minute read

Stocktwits, the prominent social platform tailored for investors and traders, has introduced options trading to its platform in response to increasing user interest in capitalizing on market volatility.

The platform recently unveiled the addition of options trading and expanded its sentiment data offerings. Rishi Khanna, CEO of Stocktwits, emphasized the surge in options trading volume, stating, "Options trading is currently experiencing unprecedented levels of activity, spanning both institutional and retail investors."

Khanna further remarked, "This feature holds significant importance as it is a topic frequently discussed within our user communities."

Stocktwits has enhanced its trading execution capabilities, enabling users to execute options trades directly within the Stocktwits platform through its subsidiary and broker-dealer, ST Invest. The platform boasts a substantial user base, with more than 8 million registered users.

Khanna highlighted that investors are actively preparing for potential market volatility, acknowledging the uncertainties in the macroeconomic landscape over the next three to nine months. These uncertainties may stem from factors such as fluctuating interest rates and inflation.

"Options serve as a robust tool suitable for seasoned and more risk-tolerant investors seeking to navigate market volatility," Khanna added, emphasizing that this feature is tailored for investors with greater experience or a higher risk appetite.
