With A $3.75 Million Sale, This Opulent Trailer In The Hamptons Smashed All Previous Records.

There were no homes available for purchase in the Montauk Shores neighborhood of the Hamptons, New York, in 2022, but that didn't stop one anonymous buyer from making a history-making acquisition.

Although the buyer already has a home in the Hamptons, Will Gold from Douglas Elliman's Atlantic Team tells Trade Algo that the customer wanted an oceanfront trailer.

They were interested in a restored space down there, but Gold claims they didn't want it to seem cramped. They wanted it to have the atmosphere of a true oceanfront mansion.

According to The Real Deal, numerous well-known people reside in the Montauk Shores and Ditch Plains neighborhoods, including Jimmy Buffet, hedge-fund manager Dan Loeb, and co-founder of Vitamin Water Darius Bikoff.

It was described as "a mobile home park with million-dollar listing, billionaire residents, and a parking structure overflowing with six-figure cars" by Architectural Digest in 2017.

Gold discovered a family who weren't quite interested in selling their beachfront house, but would if the right price was offered, even though nothing was currently on the market.

The subject property was an 800-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath custom-built mobile home with upscale fixtures.

It was built with a gas fireplace, a grill, an outdoor shower, and 180-degree views of the beach from the sitting room and private rear balcony.

The proprietors consented to selling the trailer for $3.75 million, or $5,000 per square foot, seven months after his initial bid. That was a sale that broke records.

The selling of the trailer includes use of the basketball court, playground, leisure center, and swimming pools because it is located in the Montauk Shores neighborhood.

The previous highest selling in the region prior to this one also involved a luxury trailer. In 2022, its apartment brought in $1.85 million. Since another apartment recently sold, which was also managed by Gold and the Atlantic Team at Douglas Elliman, the previous record is about to be broken. It was listed for $1.99 million.

The apartment is a non-custom made mobile home with two bedrooms and one bathroom that is around 150 square feet shorter than the $3.75 million unit.

Surfing hotspots include the Ditch Plain and Montauk Shores regions. According to Gold, it was the most crucial factor for his clientele, hence the expensive price was justified.

It's a very close-knit, family-oriented area that is essentially all to itself. When you go through it, it exudes a really charming, vintage Montauk vibe," Gold continued.
