Fans of Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)'s iMac desktop computer can expect the new model soon.
There are indications that the next iteration of the iMac desktop is currently in the engineering validation testing stage, indicating that it is nearing the end of its development stage. Apparently, the company is in the process of testing the product in production.
New iMacs will be more powerful, with a new M-series chip, possibly the M3, replacing the current M1 chip in the current machines, with a new M-series chip, which might not be present in the current machines. In addition, Apple also noted a redesigning and relocation of some internal components as well as a change in the manufacturing process for attaching the stand to the iMac.
The screen size is expected to remain at 24 inches, which is the same as the current model that was announced in April 2021 and has been available since. There will be the same colors for the new version, adding that it would come in the same form.
The mass production of the new iMacs is not expected to begin for at least three months after the product is released. The availability of these machines is therefore unlikely to be announced before the second half of the year, at the earliest.
Cupertino is also expected to announce three new Macs between the middle of the spring and the beginning of the summer. It is possible that Apple may introduce the first 15-inch MacBook Pro, the first Mac Pro with Apple chips, and a new 13-inch MacBook Air based on Apple chips.
Among the features included in the Mac Pro is the M2 Ultra chip, which offers a total of 24 cores of CPU processing power, 76 graphics processing units, as well as the capability to load the machine with as much memory as you would like.
Apple writer says 15-inch MacBook Airs would likely still be in demand even if they launch with M2 chips. This device could come with the M3 chip, which is a 5-nanometer node processor, which means that it will be compatible with the 13-inch model.
The introduction of a new MacBook Air along with an M3 chip at WWDC 2023 would make sense if Apple follows the schedule it set last year. The company could then follow up with the M3 iMac at the end of the year and the M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pros in 2024 based on the M3 technology.
On Friday, Apple closed at $151.03 3.51% higher than the previous session.
