The Apple Watch with a camera was granted three patents over the past couple of years, all of which relate to technology relating to an Apple Watch. The US patent and trade mark office has granted Patently Apple a patent for a detachable Apple Watch with a camera at the bottom of the device, according to Patently Apple's report. A camera is hidden beneath the detachable watch segment.
This new watch form factor could also be paired with a band or strap system in order to make it simpler for the camera segment to be detached from the face of the watch.
Earlier this year, Apple began releasing an Apple Watch, which includes a camera on the back, according to a publication. There has been a patent granted to the company since then for rotatable cameras and, in 2022, they will be granted a patent for a camera built into the watch itself. Although it's certain that the company has been granted these patents, it's important to note that just because the product has been granted these patents, it doesn't indicate that it will ever reach the market - just like the Apple Watch Series X , for instance.
This Apple Watch with a camera patent might allow the user to easily and quickly release the watch housing or main case body from their wrist, and could potentially allow a quick release or ergonomic release of the device. The release of this component could also be accelerated “without a need to use a clasp, buckle, or closure mechanism.”
It may raise privacy concerns for Apple Watch users to have a camera embedded in the watch, but there are already solutions that turn your smartwatch into something like what the Power Rangers use. There is uncertainty if a camera will ever appear on an Apple Watch, as the company has just released a new model of the smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra, so it is not yet clear if the smartwatch will one day have a camera as an accessory.
Trade Algo reports that Apple is working on a new SoC for the next Apple Watch that would be faster than the current gneration - which is about the same speed as the current Series 6 model of Apple Watches. Aside from that, Apple is also working on a few new sensors, such as glucose sensors and blood pressure sensors, that would be useful for users. I do believe that these two products are still a few years away from being officially released before we actually see them.
