Over the past year, SpaceX has experienced a notable 12% increase in its valuation, as disclosed by the Baillie Gifford U.S. Growth Trust, in which the rocket launching company, founded by Elon Musk, holds a prominent position as its top investment holding.

In the period ending May 31, the valuation of the trust's stake in SpaceX climbed from £35 million to £39.2 million. During this period, it's important to note that the value of the pound experienced a minor decline of approximately 1% against the U.S. dollar. However, the exact extent of the fund's ownership within SpaceX remains undisclosed.

The Baillie Gifford U.S. Growth Trust elaborated on SpaceX's performance within its annual review. It noted the trajectory of SpaceX's achievements, highlighting that in 2018, the company executed 21 launches, with nearly half successfully achieving ground landings. In a significant leap, SpaceX accomplished 61 orbital missions in 2022, almost doubling its previous annual record of 31, established in 2021. This achievement translated to an average launch frequency of once every six days from any of its three launch sites. Notably, the company has positioned itself as a driving force in the launch market, capturing an impressive two-thirds of the market share.

The trust emphasized SpaceX's ability to drive down operational costs by leveraging reusable rockets. The company's accomplishment in relaunching one of its Falcon rockets for the fifteenth time stands as a testament to this efficiency. Moreover, Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's COO and President, has confidently stated that the Starlink internet business is poised to generate profits in the current year.

According to Bloomberg's Billionaires index, Elon Musk's stake in SpaceX is presently estimated at $53 billion, constituting roughly a quarter of his overall net worth of $224 billion. It is worth noting that Musk's stake in Tesla is valued at $100 billion.
