SpaceX intends to launch its Starship rocket around March

In March, SpaceX intends to attempt to launch its reusable Starship rocket into orbit, according to Elon Musk, "assuming all remaining testing go well."

The CEO of SpaceX responded to a Twitter who enquired as to whether or not Starship was nearly ready for takeoff.

According to SpaceX's website, the launch will show that Starship can transport personnel on missions with NASA to "Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond."

As part of its Artemis program, NASA awarded SpaceX a contract for around to $3 billion in 2021 to develop a commercial human lander for Starship to set foot on the moon. The Artemis 3 and 4 crewed lunar missions are scheduled to launch in 2025 and 2027, respectively.

Musk had hinted that a launch attempt would occur "soon" and suggested that it might take place as soon as the end of February or March.

As per government documents, the Starship test flight will take off from the Boca Chica, Texas, Starbase spaceport. Based on the papers, its rocket booster Super Heavy will return to land at Starbase or in the Gulf of Mexico, while Starship will do so in the Pacific Ocean.

A launch date for the Starship has not yet been formally announced by SpaceX, and the company did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

In July of last year, a test of a Super Heavy prototype at the Boca Chica testing facility ended in failure after an explosion and flames from the engines on the test pad.

“Yeah, actually not good. Team is analyzing damage", Musk said after a video of the explosion was posted to Twitter.
