OpenAI's GPT powers Snap's new AI chatbot

My AI, a chatbot powered by OpenAI, will be available for Snapchat+ subscribers starting Monday.

A subscription to Snapchat+ costs $3.99 per month and was announced in June.

In a press release, Snap said the chatbot uses OpenAI ChatGPT technology, which also powers Microsoft's Bing AI. 'Experimental feature' names and chat backgrounds can be customized.

The Snap My AI chatbot is susceptible to being tricked into saying just about anything, similar to Bing's OpenAI-based chatbot.

During Snap's fourth-quarter earnings call, Evan Spiegel discussed AI's potential for transformative change. Similar statements have been made during recent earnings calls by executives at companies such as Nvidia and Meta.

According to Spiegel, the Verge interview was similarly upbeat. According to him, we're going to have daily conversations with AI, in addition to talking to our friends and family.

Google and Microsoft released AI-based products in recent weeks, including Google's Bard, a conversational AI product internally developed by the company.
