Microsoft has made a significant investment in GPT-4, signing an exclusive agreement with ChatGPT creator OpenAI to integrate it with its own search engine, Bing and because Bing powers a number of other search engines, it was discovered that they were using this access to develop their own AI chatbots, which were then powered by Bing Chatbot. And Microsoft is now telling them not to do so because it is outside of their contact scope.
Using Bing Access to Build Your Own AI Chatbots
According to TRADE Algo, Microsoft has advised two of its Bing Search data partners to avoid using the access to feed their own AI chatbots. While we don't know which two organizations Microsoft has warned about, most of the partners who use Bing Search data already have chatbots!
DuckDuckGo, for example, launched DuckAssist last month, which provides AI-generated summaries from Wikipedia and other sources for specific searches. You.com, on the other hand, features an AI chat option that answers simple questions directly. Another search engine that uses Bing data, Neeva, has a comparable AI-powered feature for generating annotated summaries.
Several of them were said to be utilizing Bing Search support for their own AI chatbots, as the current Bing comes integrated with the GPT-4 language model. This is the same technology that drove OpenAI's ChatGPT.
The new GPT-4 model is claimed to be more strong and cautious in its public responses. It can generate the most recent statistics and even create graphics and films from text inputs. As a result, exploiting it is far more sensible than creating another equivalent one.
Nevertheless, because Microsoft has spent $10 billion on this integration into Bing Search, it does not want to be utilized by others, particularly competing chatbots. As a result, it allegedly warned some of its partners to stop using Bing access to feed their own chatbots.
Microsoft may revoke access if this is deemed a violation of their agreement. "We'll continue to work with them directly and give whatever information needed to identify a path forward," it added.
