Matt Damon - the famous American actor - has partnered with Crypto.com in 2021 to take part in their marketing campaign with the slogan "Fortune favors the bold". However, an advertisement with the same title has received harsh criticism from crypto enthusiasts.
According to an interview he gave recently, he had admitted that he was the one to make the deal, as he attributed the revenue to his charity organization, water.org, which has become one of his main motivations for doing this.
- As many other rivals in the cryptocurrency industry did during the 2021 bull run, Crypto.com also launched several marketing campaigns. One of its most popular commercials featured Matt Damon, one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
- In the ad, the company recommends people get on board the cryptocurrency bandwagon by making use of the platform's services, shot in a futuristic environment.
- As a result of Damon's involvement, many crypto critics on Twitter slammed him for his involvement, arguing that his popularity might drive inexperienced investors into the volatile crypto market, resulting in significant financial losses if the industry crashes.
- Crypto.com's charitable organization water.org was recently given $1 million in a capital donation from Crypto.com in an effort to help those in need, which is why it agreed to appear in the ad after making a $100K donation to its charitable organization :
In order to raise funds for water.org, I ran that advertisement. Crypto.com heard about it, and they gave water.org $1 million on their own when we were down. I would like to thank him for what he did for our foundation, and I do express my deepest gratitude to him.
- Moreover, Damon holds shares of Crypto.com, as reported by Trade Algo.
- Crypto.com Arena, home to the LA Lakers and LA Clippers, was renamed the Crypto.com Arena just days after the exchange announced its most famous marketing campaign with the actor.
