In $100 Million Twitter Investment, Billionaire Ron Baron Promised Multiples

A billionaire investor was told by Tesla that he could make "two to three times" his $100 million investment when he invested $100 million in the automaker

According to Baron, Twitter's take-private deal with Elon Musk is one of the biggest developments in the tech sector this year.

According to Baron, Musk has made him more than $5 billion in profits so far, from a $400 million investment in Tesla. In his interview with Trade Algo last year, the billionaire investor told Trade Algo that he held almost 6 million Tesla shares through his investment company, Baron Capital. Baron made an investment in Twitter worth $100 million as a result of his long-term faith in Musk's ability to operate as an executive and in the marketing abilities he possesses.

In an interview Tuesday, Baron told reporters that he didn't want to go into too much detail about Twitter because he is not an expert there yet, but he explained that when he looked around, he realized this platform was very poorly run and cost a lot of money.

The acquisition of Twitter by Musk has been fraught with difficulty, and according to Musk himself, "extremely difficult". Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022, and the company subsequently laid off a significant number of employees, revoked a "forever" work-from-home policy, and faced court action multiple times for failing to pay bills, including the rent at Twitter's San Francisco headquarters, a private jet bill.

Musk said at a conference on Sunday that Twitter was "trending towards breakeven." Baron's reaction to Twitter's near-bankruptcy was unfazed by his company's financial mishap.

There's no doubt that he's the most famous man in the world," Baron said, adding, "I guess that's a fact." It is well known that everyone else spends $1,000 to market a car, but he spends nothing since everyone knows what Twitter is.

According to Baron, he does not spend a single penny because he is known to everyone.
