Ford F-150 Lightning Prices Are Rapidly Dropping

April 14, 2023
minute read

If prices continue to fall, you might be able to get a good deal on a used Ford F-150 Lightning model. Used F-150 Lightning prices have dropped 39% since June 2022, according to Barrons.

The Lightning isn't in any danger just yet. Prices are falling from exorbitant markups to minor markups. The cost of a used model is roughly identical to the cost of a new model. But, purchasing a secondhand device may allow you to bypass the lengthy waiting list.

The 2023 Lightning starts at $59,974, the Larirat is $75,974, and the Platinum costs $98,074.

If you search for used 2022 F-150 Lightning vehicles, you'll discover Lariat versions priced between $60,000 and $78,000, depending on where you live. We even found a 2023 Platinum model with only 1,007 miles for $89,000.

Prices may fall as inventory rises, but Ford only produces roughly 80,000 vehicles per year. So, are people already getting rid of the Lightning? Also, it was released in 2022, thus there shouldn't be many used units on the market.

You can save time and money by purchasing a used Ford F-150 Lightning, but there are a few possible concerns to be aware of beforehand. For example, the F-150 Lightning isn't the finest hauling vehicle.

It can pull up to 10,000 pounds but loses range rapidly. Individuals have lost tons or range at an alarming pace while towing trailers weighing 5,000 to 6,000 pounds. We lost so much range on flat ground that we had to shorten our towing test.

Many are also not obtaining the EPA-estimated 320 mile range on a single charge. What they may not realize is that the estimated range is based on perfect temperatures and prudent driving circumstances.

Also, the cold weather has had an effect on the range. Freezing conditions might restrict range and make charging take longer. Nonetheless, Ford did issue a few winter safety advice.

The FordPass app does not always function with specified charging hours overnight, and finding working charging stations might be challenging. A DC rapid charging station should recharge the battery from 15 to 80% in around 40 minutes. So how long does it take to charge completely?

Is the Ford F-150 Lightning dependable?

It's too soon to tell how dependable the Ford F-150 Lightning is. Additional models should be put to the test. Nonetheless, based on previous Lightning models, the Lightning is likely to be less dependable than the typical new car.

There have been two recalls for the Lightning. One was for low tire pressure, while the other was for 18 models with a potentially flammable battery. Isn't it true that 18 is a relatively low number?

It's unclear why used Ford F-150 Lightning prices are falling. It's an addictive and pleasant vehicle to drive, but its charging technology might be improved. Perhaps it isn't living up to high expectations.
