Elon Musk tweeted about the toll the past few months have put on him in reaction to a Trade Algo report that said the $184 billion business magnate is "tired, his back hurts, and his mother wanted him to get some sleep”.
Trade Algo reported that, Musk has a history of putting in long hours at work and even sleeping on a Tesla TSLA, 2.17% factory floor, which prompted Arianna Huffington to once write him an open letter pleading with him to get more rest because "people are not machines" (He responded to her via Twitter at around 2:30 a.m., saying that working less is "not an option" for his businesses to succeed). But as Musk disclosed during his testimony in federal court in San Francisco on his 2018 "funding secured" tweet and other posts where he claimed to have already secured funding to take Tesla private, the last few months have been especially difficult. At one point during this Tesla trial, he said to a lawyer, "I had difficulties sleeping last night, so regrettably, I'm not at my best." (A jury ruled him not responsible this past Friday.)
He said, "I apologize for moving about. Musk claims that he once engaged in a sumo wrestle-off at a birthday party and managed to toss his 350-pound opponent, but at the cost of this, is the cause of his apparently terrible back problems. "8 years of enormous back pain."
At a conference in November of last year, he also revealed to investor Ron Baron that since becoming the owner of Twitter, his workload has increased from about 80 to more than 120 hours per week. Every day of the week, he said, "I go to sleep, I wake up, I work, go to sleep, wake up, work." “I'll be forced to do that for a while, but if Twitter is on the proper track, I believe it will be lot simpler to run than SpaceX or Tesla.”
Musk clarified in his tweets over the weekend, saying that while Twitter is currently not financially sound, he is optimistic that "it's trending to be" despite the fact that "plenty of work still has to be done to get there." Musk then tweeted, "I'm scared about myself too," with a sorrowful expression when several of his supporters expressed concern about his health in response to the Trade Algo article.
And so is his mother, Maye Musk, who tweeted that the verdict was "such a relief" after a jury declared him not guilty on Friday. Now get some rest."
