The iPhone maker has turned to a method that has proven to be effective in keeping customers interested in the current iPhone line until the new one, the iPhone 6, arrives in the fall: adding new colors.
As part of an update to the current iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, Apple announced on Tuesday a yellow color option as an addition to midnight, blue, purple, red and starlight options. There will be no additional enhancements to the new model, but the company says it will go on sale in store on March 14 in retail stores, so the preorders will begin on March 10 and the new model will go on sale in retail stores on March 14.
There is a new way for Apple to market a product that has already been on sale for about six months, creating a new way for Apple to keep the product at the forefront of consumers' minds during a period when the launch of the iPhone 15 is still six months away. Recently, Apple has been using the tactic quite a lot in order to gain a competitive advantage.
Red versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 which were released by Apple in 2017 and 2018 respectively are red versions of devices. The company added a purple iPhone 12 to its lineup in 2021. The iPhone 13 as well as the iPhone 13 Pro were released with green versions last year.
In terms of new color options for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple hasn't added any new colors for 2023 as yet. There is a wide variety of colors to choose from with those models, such as black, gold, silver, and purple.
The next generation iPhone, which is expected to be released towards the end of September, will feature the Dynamic Island, which is the new interface that appears at the top of the screen, on the lower-end models as well as the higher-end handsets. There are a lot of changes coming with the iPhone 15 model, whether it's a Titanium design, faster processor, or a periscope camera with much-improved zoom that will be found on the iPhone 15 Pro. While the standard iPhone 15 will retain the look of the previous model, the iPhone 15 Pro has many more exciting changes.
There are now new colors for Apple's iPhone cases and watch bands, in addition to what it has already done in the past. Aside from new Macs, the company will also introduce its first mixed-reality headset in the coming months, as well as introducing new MacBook Air models, the first Apple Silicon-based Mac Pro, and Apple's first mixed-reality headset in the coming months.
