On Wednesday morning, Twitter Inc. appeared to have largely fixed a problem that prevented users from loading a portion of their news feed. This was the service's latest outage since Elon Musk acquired control of the business and dismissed half of its workers.
At around 10 a.m., users started to report issues with the website. The number of complaints peaked at little under 4,200 at London time, according to outage monitoring service Downdetector. Almost three hours later, the website reported that the number of reports of issues decreased once more to normal levels.
In the "Following" tab, some users received a "Welcome to Twitter" message instead of their usual feed, however the "For You" part loaded as usual.
This comes after issues last month that made it impossible for users in the US and Asia to tweet, check their messages, or follow new accounts. Huge workforce reductions at Twitter began with a 50% drop when Musk seized the helm last year in an effort to save costs after his $44 billion acquisition.
An email requesting comment from Twitter received no response.
According to those with knowledge of the situation, the corporation fired several employees on Saturday, including those in the engineering and product departments.
According to information from real estate firm Savills, the corporation is also reducing its office space and has offered to sublease 200,000 square feet (19,000 square meters) in Manhattan.
A quarter of Twitter's workforce was laid off last year, or more than 3,700 jobs.
